  "Despite pointing her camera at such a range of objects, both natural and man-made, macro and large-scale, it feels to me that avril's real subject is none of these.
  It's light - reflected, refracted, diffused and glowing. And a particularly gorgeous colour palette - that very subtle counterbalancing of soft warm blue, a quiet gold and the occasional warm russet which reminds me again and again of the Dutch Masters. Is this pure coincidence, or has art seeped into her blood, her lungs, her lens? She certainly looks through an artist's eye - often at galleries, public spaces and set pieces ... but also the small, the mundane, the detail that most would overlook.
  I enjoy your lightness of touch, the unity of visual tone of voice in your work. It's just lovely.
