Thank you for visiting my flickr page.
I am a Wedding and Portrait Photographer in Eastern Ontario - while most of the weddings I photograph are in Ottawa, I live in Smiths Falls.
Traveling is ok as I am also a Shopping Centre Marketing Director in Ottawa with Maxi and Maple Leaf Gold awards from ICSC (that will mean more to people who are members of the International Council of Shopping Centers than most people viewing this profile).
I grew up in a family that owned community newspapers, so it was natural that at 12 they trained me to make pictures in the darkroom for the papers. My sister gave me my first SLR at that time, a Soligor with a screw mount, All through high school I carried that camera with an 80 to 200 on it along with a Yashica Mat TLR. Through school I only cared about photography, but I wasn't a techy kind of photographer, I would wander around the school taking pictures of the people all around - would use the school darkroom during school (I skipped classes to use the darkroom) and my home darkroom on weeknights, during weekends I used the newspaper darkrooms to make other people's pictures.

I studied advertising in college which led me into retail for four years and eventually into shopping centre marketing. Both my degree and retail experience have shaped how I make pictures. I am not satisfied to make pictures like every one else and I really don't care for formulaic approaches - though schedules and discipline are great tools that I use to get the point where I don't need to follow the rules.

I use Nikons, Macs but would be comfortable using (gasp) Canons, Sony or Pentax.
Why? I used to be a film shooter and I used Hasselblads, so really the argument is pointless. Nothing is as comfortable in your hands as a Hasselblad...and nothing is as expensive.

I still have a darkroom - except it is now where I store the boxes that carried my digital camera equipment.
