I initially joined Flickr to use it as somewhere to share snaps from parties, holidays and the like. At the time, I was shooting with my cameraphone, a 3.2MP SonyEricsson K800i.

Very quickly, Flickr fully converted me to taking photography seriously, mostly through the fantastic interaction between Flickr members that is enabled by having contacts and joining groups.

In June 2007 I bought a Canon 400D, and have since purchased three lenses (Canon EF 50 MkII, Canon EF-S 17-85 IS, Sigma 10-20), and various other kit; I've been on an evening class in photography at my local college; and I've turned my Flickr Stream from somewhere where my best stuff was buried under well over a thousand other pictures (after all, that's what Facebook is for) to a place to showcase what I think is my best work.

Most of my work is of landscapes or historical sites. As my photography has developed, I've begun to spend more time processing my shots. What's pleasing about looking back at my stream is that I feel the development and improvement in my photography is clear over the last couple of years. That said, there is always more to learn; I know I can get more out of processing software than I currently do, and I need to challenge myself to photograph new subjects, in new environments and using new techniques.
