A Bit About Me:

I love to be in my garden...I've been gardening for 25 years. I went back to school when I was 30 years old as I was looking for a career doing something I really enjoyed. I enrolled at UConn to study Horticulture and Landscape Design. I'm a free lance writer and have published gardening articles in my local town publications and online newspapers. I used to teach landscape classes through the adult ed program because I believe everyone should have a beautiful garden in their yard. I've been suffering the effects of Lyme Disease since 2008 and it has stifled some of my creative activities. My brain doesn't seem to function the same way anymore!

I love to take photos but I consider myself an amateur because I am self-taught and never took a class or received professional instruction although someday I might take a class!. My photos are usually posted the way the camera captured them with an exception to cropping or adjusting the contrast. I have a basic post-processing program that I dabble in but I'm not very good with it!

It's All In the Details

My earlier photos on Flickr were taken with a basic point and shoot Panasonic Lumix digital camera (3.2 mps). I received the best Christmas present from my husband in 2006, a Nikon D50 DSLR camera with an 18-135 mm lens! I read the manual from front to back then immediately started experimenting with it. I also purchased a Nikkor 50 mm f/1.8 lens to add to the D50. What a difference a good camera and lens can make! I added a Canon Power Shot A570 IS to my equipment in July 2007 because I wanted to upgrade the pixels of my point and shoot camera. It's a great camera for something small and simple plus it offers manual controls for shutter speed and aperture.

I joined Flickr in September 2006 and have met so many interesting people from all over the world. Three years later, I have uploaded over 1,000 photos. Take a look around at all the wonderful work you will find from my friends and contacts, too!
