I've always loved photography's ability to capture something and translate it into a form in which it is unchanging, so that we can look at that something over and over again. I also like photography's way of encouraging us to see people and things in a way we might not have before. For example, I enjoy shooting detail photos of paintings and other artwork, because I like how detail images force me to see or to focus on something I might not even notice at all when I glance at a painting whole.
