I love Photography. I love Nature. I Love to Love. I try to live life in a way that allows me to be passionate about living and full of life. In order to do this, I need lots of help and support. Thank God for teaching me to ask for help and to say thank you as often as possible (God talks to me often through people). My daughter, now 4, came from the heavens with a wondrous spirit, and I try to follow and learn from her.
I credit Flickr and more importantly, the people here who have and continue to teach me in photography and all matters of life.
I shoot Sony and Minolta. I also shoot with a Panasonic fz100. When I would see people share their lens line up I would think think it was all about ego. Now I know there are other reasons; Flickr is such a resource for photographers of all skill levels - seeing the lenses a person has and chooses to use can be a great resource to others. If you ever want my opinion on the equipment I use...just drop me an email. I will share every bit of information I have (won't take too long).
Sony SLT-a55
Sony A550
Minolta 50mm F1.7
Tamron 90mm SP 90 AF F2.8
Sigma 180 APO IF F3.5 Macro
Quantaray 18-200mm
Quantaray 70-300mm Macro (
Minolta AF 28-105mm F3.5-4.5
Minolta Af 35-105mm f3.5-4.5
Tamron 200-400mm LD IF F5.6
Tamron 200-500mm
While good equipment certainly helps, some of my favorite photos, both personally and by others, are photos I have taken with a point and shoot. Specialized equipment and experience can and does certainly help...but not as much as passion, appreciation, and an open heart and mind. I believe Flickr proves this every hour of every day of every year.

46 years old ...now I need glasses, lipitor, rest in between long runs...sleep once in a while...Ibuprofen everyday, ice...and I miss my 20's and some of my 30's when I was really smart and had the answers for almost everything, and wasn't afraid to let you know. Now, through life's teachings, and my desire to not learn the hard way on everything, I try to cultivate a gentler, kinder, way of living. Reducing expectations, increasing gratitude, and giving and receiving help. Photography helps me appreciate the world and people around me, and offers assistance in my attempts to not get to caught up in all things material.

My first baby was born this 2006...and my Step-Daughter is turning into an unbelievable and beautiful teenager. How blessed am I? Blessed.
Thanks mostly to my Dog and Photography, and my honey's interest in both and nature, I get to see so much of this world right outside my door. As a life long “worshiper” and aficionado of beautiful nature, I started carrying a digital camera about 11 years ago. But it wasn't till a few years ago that I started taking the camera off auto, portrait, sport, landscape, and trying to learn something about photography. Someone just explained to me they were a picture-taker, not a photographer. I liked how that sounded, and I believe it to be true for me. As a picture-taker I have sold some works, and had the great feeling of works being auctioned off to help different causes; now involved with Flickr, my learning and passion for photography is constant when I wake, and when I go to bed. And this passion translates to all parts of my life. What a gift.
My first Flickr upload was January 2007 (One photo until October of 2007, when I figured out how to be a part of it). What I pledge to never do, is to apologize for a picture of nature's beauty. Early on in my experience of Flickr, I saw an unbelievable sunset, and in the description, the person was apologizing for posting “another sunset”. People, post all the beauty you can...that is my goal...with a little humor thrown in.
I have a favorite quote that I try to live as a value...
'Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts." Rachel Carson.
One of my first memories as a child is how at age two or three, the birds would come to our feeder just outside the bedroom window, and I would “talk” to the chickadees. I was sure they were talking back to me and not once did my mother ever tell me otherwise. Chick-a-dee-dee-dee...Chick-a-dee-dee-dee over and over again and my mother would ask me to translate, as she herself, did not speak the language.
My Mom lived with Multiple Sclerosis for at least 27 years of her life. In a wheel-chair, we never once heard her complain. And she never, I don't think ever, passed up an opportunity to see, breath in, and appreciate anything beautiful. I am sure it is what kept her sane and her spirit so kind and loving. May some of that beauty, be captured and seen in my photostream.

pinoyphotog says:
"I've been meaning to write this for the longest time, David. But you know how the "hasta la mañana" (Spanish for, roughtly "I'll do it tomorrow!") ailment can afflict a sun-baked south Floridian like me...hehe! But OTOH the nagging conscience is a strong prompter, so here goes:
The camera lens is often an objective and cold, oftentimes uncaring, sometimes cruel "observer" and "recorder" of lifetime events transpiring right before us. The "mechanical" click of the shutter simply documents whatever it is that is before the camera. No more. Nothing less.
Perception, conception and interpretation, however, give the "heart" and "feel" to simple two-dimensional images, thus morphing these into three-dimensional visions that enthrall, captivate, challenge, motivate, inspire, and so on and on...
David's photographs show this "heartfelt" link to his photo subjects. Every shot in his flickr photostream clearly shows what a sensitive and "attuned" shooter he is. From his caring photos of wife and daughter, to nostalgic shots of childhood places and even the documentation of "scholarly" eagles perched on a tree on school grounds, it becomes immediately evident that David never takes snapshots. He previsualizes, and only trips the shutter when both eye and heart are satisfied. :)
"Keep On Shooting!"

"Austie1 as he prefers to be known here on Flickr is is one of those friends whose work is immensely different from the vast numbers of photographers that throng the internet medium. His is a classic study of devotion to his art. A quality that makes him stand out head and shoulders above us, the mere mortals.
He has a keen eye that spots a photographic opportunity with great elan and then goes to shoot a series that is breathtaking in its composition, style and content. His work around the raptor nest is illustrative for what I am saying here.
Keep on taking these fabulous stories and showing it to the world.
YOU are a king of the visual medium and one looks forward to your work all the time."9th June, 2009

"David has been my Flickr friend for I think about one year now and already the first photo I saw from him impressed me very much. Then he used a Canon S3 with amazing results and he told that he was going to get a better camera. Could he improve the quality of his photos? They were already very good. Oh yes he could!!
It's a hard work to be his photo friend. You would like to write long and nice comment to almost all of his marvelous photos from the nature. He show us also personal fine photos from his wonderful family.
Thank you David for showing all the good photos and also for all the nice comments you gave to me. I'm so proud to get them from you! I wish you and your nice family all well in the future."27th November, 2008

"David is one in a million!
With a kinder, gentler approach to wildlife photography he is untouchable.
He captures nature and it's wildlife in a nearly "stealth-like" manner, giving you a "secret pass" to a world most of us can only dream of. From the rollicking, carrying-on of the baby egrets with the baby fluff on their heads that can't help to make you lol ......to the grandeur of the soaring Osprey in all its splendor. You will never be disappointed! This ... together with the pure sincerity and off-hand humor , David is a truly extraordinary person that deserves more praise than I can find words for. Visit again soon... Visit often!"10th July, 2008

"David has a special attitude to life that shines through his photography. His images touch as many lives as he takes the trouble to touch through his generosity of spirit.
His day seems to span 48 hours, as he not only works and looks after his beautiful family, but seems to look after all of his Flickr family equally too!
David's photography is a joy to look at, and somehow he conveys to us that ours is a joy to him too through his few brief words of encouragement.
We as a community are lucky to have such a warm human being among us. I feel priveledged to be one of his contacts and to be included in his precious 'commenting time'!!
Thank you for your warmth and beautiful photography for us to 'bask' in!"8th July, 2008

"I just looked at your profile again, mostly because I got to thinking about what a great photographer you are. Or "picture-taker", as you put it...
I think you have one of the most positive and upbeat attitudes I have seen here, and believe me, I have seen some beautiful attitudes on flickr! I am always so glad I found you to be one of my flickr friends.
The part of your profile that I love the most, though, is your reference to your mother asking you to translate the chickadee language for her. That really touches me, and shows what a blessing she was for you. And you for her. She sounds a lot like my mom, who each and every day is missed more than the day before. Sounds like we were both lucky to have had them in our lives!
Your pictures are fabulous, your comments are always so nice! I wanted to let you know I appreciate having you as a contact and friend!
Take care, and take lots of pictures :)

"I love looking at David's sensational photographs. Not only is he a superb photographer but his subjects are always captured lovingly and with special attention to detail. As if that weren't enough, he is also a man who is connected to the world around him and refreshingly open with his emotions and sensitivity. I say that without knowing him at all but simply basing it on what I've experienced on Flickr of this wonderful person.
David, thank you. You always bring a smile to my face and often a little tear to my eye with the beautiful way you have of expressing your wonder and love for everything around you... the journey through your photostream is always an uplifting experience..."20th March, 2008

"I'm long overdue writing a testimonial on David. I can't recall how I stumbled on his stream but I am most happy I did. His photography speaks for itself and shows high technical skill, great humanity, and a good sense of humor. In addition David has been very kind and supportive to me as I come up to speed on Flickr and try to build up some skills of my own. David's work and attitude epitomize what can be great about a community like Flickr."

"One look at Austie1's photostream and you realize that he's the real deal. You are treated to wonderful, moving images; he's got the eye for sure. But to paint him as just another talented photographer is to totally miss the point. Because you would be missing the most important part: he is a generous, sensitive, funny, passionate human being whose postings must be seen, read and experienced in their entirety.
I look forward to your new postings every day, David. Keep up the great work!"15th April, 2008

"If you are reading this it is because you have either just been fortunate enough to view David's photos, or are about to go on a journey through nature's most beautiful images. I firmly believe that the making of the photograph is not the hard part...its seeing the image in the first place. Whether he has his darling Gracie at his side, or he is crawling through bird poo, or avoiding the random deer carcass (LOL...inside joke), David always has a unique way of seeing those images and uses the camera as a tool to capture them for our enjoyment! As a contact, he provides great feedback, whitty comments, and shows that aside from being a stellar photographer, he is a down-to-earth light hearted man. I hope you enjoy David's work as much as I do!"

"If you pay close attention...if you really delve into a person's photo stream...you can discover that person's core. With David, the core doesn't require a lot of digging. His passions are easily discernible: Family, nature, loyalty, humor, empathy and and a desire to take better and better photos.
David gives us images that are sometimes breathtaking, sometimes humorous, often thought-provoking. But that's not all. His words add to the pictures in a kind of FlickrPhotojournalismStyle.
Thanks, David...and keep on shooting!"12th February, 2008
