Entrered Jan 2012

I first picked up a camera when I was about 8 when my parents bought me a toy camera. I enjoyed taking pictures of family, friends and pets. Of course the quality and images was terrible, but it was the magic of clicking the camera and waiting for the film to be developed that interested me most.
I didn’t get my first real camera till I was about 17 when I bought a Canon Film (just before the digital age). I had it for a good seven years and to be honest... it didn’t see much light as I didn’t fully understand how to use it and I was plainly pre-occupied with sport, music and song writing in various rock bands.
It wasn’t until 2003 when trying to promote the rock band I was currently in that I needed live gig pictures. It was hard at the time to find someone dedicated or motivated enough to come and do this, so I decided to buy a entry level Canon 450D. Thankfully my work bonus was able me to afford a Canon 50mm fixed lens with a max F1.2 and a basic course at the Australian Centre for Photography in Paddington, Sydney.

A lot of my early digital photography was photographing my band as well as the local underground Sydney scene. I did these pics for free as many rock bands struggled to be noticed let alone having quality photographs for them to market themselves on websites such as Myspace.

It was not until I did my first photography tour through China where I learnt the power of light and most of all patience when doing photography. There are 100 ways taking pictures to processing them, but I was happy to discover what suited me and the quality of photography improved. My travelling experience is now more enjoyable because of what I’ve learnt through the lens.

I know most of my photography is mainly landscapes and objects. My next challenge in 2012 will be portraiture. What this space and thanks for reading my profile if you made it this far.....
