For the most part I am an academic. My field is the intersection of tourism and religion, and recently I submitted a PhD thesis about spiritual tourism to India and the Camino de Santiago. One day I'll here back from my examiners about it.
I also like images and the act of making a photograph, and that explains why I am here. I like to make photographs, often of little inanimate things, it seems. A part of me would like to be able to capture a crowd or a sweeping vista, but I always end up focussing on a detail. But that's ok, and I think that is how I tend to look at the world anyway. I would like to get better at portraits though.

Recently I was given a 1952 model Brownie Hawkeye Flash. This has ignited an interest in medium format film, and you can see some of the results here.

I also made myself a pinhole camera out of cardboard. There are a few photos from it (and it being built) here. I'd like to make a more solid one next, probably with wood.

Sometimes I borrow cameras from my mate Rob (hi Rob!). His RB67 and Pentacon Six and I made some great pictures together, which you can see here and here respectively.

After I submitted my PhD my beautiful wife Abi bought me a Yashica-Mat TLR. I have named it Yashi (I think it is sex- and gender-less... still checking) and you can see it, and eventually some pictures from it here.

As if that wasn't enough, for Christmas 2009 Abi also gave me a Holga 120GCFN. I finally got around to developing my first rolls from it which you can see here.

One day I'll get a photoblog going.
