I took my first photograph when I was about 15 and still at boarding school. My father & grandfather were both keen photographers so I probably caught the bug from them.

The thing I really like about photography is that it compliments & ties in nicely with all the other hobbies you may have.

I'm interested in classic motor racing [cars & bikes] and try to get to as many meetings as I can afford. I find that the modern racing scene is too commercial and restrictive - you pay through the nose to get in, then there are more things you can't do than you can do!! Not for me.

Vintage cars, classic cars, custom cars & hotrods all all favourites too.

I also like railways, especially steam, the sound and smell of which bring back fond memories of my childhood. I spent many an hour down at the local railway station watching the steam trains come and go.

Here in New Zealand we are never far away from the beach or countryside and bush, so landscape photography is another passtime.

Currently I'm using a Canon Powershot G11 which I love for it's tilt out screen and impressive image quality. For Motor racing action I use a Canon Eos 30d with Canon EF 70-300 IS Zoom and Tamron 17-50 f2.8.

I'm still using film, mainly in my Pentax 645, but I recently bought some Agfa APX100 in 35mm format so I'll have to dust off another camera [ I have so many film cameras that I can never make up my mind which one to use!!].

I've kept my basement B&W darkroom operational so I can continue to develop my own films - important if you want consistant quality at a reasonable expense.

I hope you enjoy my photostream - after all that's why we belong to Flickr and post our images.

Almost forgot - all my images are 1200 on the long side so if you want to see a larger image watch the slide show.

"Nigel has been creating fantastic shots ever since before I was born, but he is too modest for fancy testimonials. =)
In-between cars, boats and motorcycles, the panning master has sprinkled stunning shots of the beautiful New Zealand landscape.
Thanks, Nigel, for enriching my Contact list and I wish all the best to you and yours!"
