Crunkly Gill is a wooded gorge in North Yorkshire where Esk Dale meets Great Fryup Dale. The River Esk runs on down through Crunkly Gill towards Lealholm. I've never lived there - but it's a beautiful corner of God's world and I somehow connect with the name.
