Hello. Cheers for visiting my profile! Have a look around, leave a few comments – we all love a comment or two don’t we? Feel free to criticise, preferably my photographs, not me.

I live on an island, it’s 500m across, and access is fairly limited. We have electricity, wind and solar, and we collect rainwater for all our, well, water needs. Yes, you can visit, just not over winter. There are three of us living on the island full time, but we do rely on volunteers, who come and live out here for 6 months at a time. (Let me know if you’re interested!)


If you dig a little further back in my photo stream, you will find that I was fortunate enough to spend 9 months in Madagascar. Amazing country, get there before the evil multinationals turn it into a giant nickel mine.

I started out with a Canon Powershot something or other in 2001, upgraded to a Canon 400d in 2007, and at the beginning of 2011 I got a Canon 7d. I don’t have any particular brand loyalty to Canon, I suppose I’m just familiar with them.

Of course I enjoy photography, but I’m here to learn. I’m often disappointed by my composition; this is an area I need to improve. Your comments are always welcome.

Of course I would like to make money out of photography, but there are so many great photographers out there, that I’m not going to delude myself! If you would like to help me out by buying a print or offering me full time paid employment in Madagascar, please feel free!

I’m becoming increasingly addicted to HDR, need to wean myself off and I am trying.

I like to make beer, I love walking in the dark, I found great satisfaction in raising pigs for food (they were very happy, and they taste utterly amazing).
