Howdy! I have tried to do the reverse of what I usually do. Instead of drawing from pictures I have used my eye and the camera to capture the pictures I want to draw or paint! I used to spend a lot of time drawing and painting, but, I love the instant gratification the digital camera has brought me.
I live close to Washington DC and travel to photograph the National Mall on a regular basis. So have a look, I usually am there when the weather is going to be breath taking at sunset or when the weather is unusual...
