Photography's always been a bit of an off and on (mostly off) interest for me, probably because I didn't have the patience to work out how to do it well with film because of the loooong feedback time (and the fact that seeing each frame cost you money!).

And then along came digital...which was fine - you get the relatively quick feedback, showing you if you've got the shot that you were aiming for. But my old (2003 - that's old by 2009 standards, I guess) Canon Powershot was sloooow. I took some nice pictures with it and I'll still use it given appropriate circumstances. But I'll always rather be using my Nikon D60 :-) I've had it just over a year and I love it. I wish I knew better how to combine all the different variables involved to capture what I saw (or what I wanted to see), but occasionally, by luck as much as judgement, it all comes together and you look at a picture and say 'yep, that's what I wanted'. Joy :-)

Most of the pictures you'll see are of my mum and dad's dog, Rosie. I feel lucky to have her as a ~~willing victim~~subject, 'cause (IMO, at least) she's a very photogenic dog. She originated from a farm in Ireland in 2008, and came to us via the Dog's Trust. She's mostly (maybe all?) collie, especially in her mannerisms and behaviour.

Please don't use my photos without my permission. They may be licensed under a relatively free license, but that still means that a) you must give proper attribution, or b) it's (at least) polite for you to ask before using any photos.
