Photophool's photostream |
I take pictures because it is fun and a challenge. I enjoy sharing them on flickr because of the camaraderie of people with like interests.
I appreciate visits to my stream and any comments you wish to make. I do have a couple of eccentricities though which are new as of April 27, 2008.
The first is about Flickr groups. Participation in many of them has become too complex and too serious to be fun. I've gotten too old to spend my time doing things that aren't fun. If you want to invite one of my images, that's fine but please don't be offended if I don't join.
The second is no animations in the comments. I just don't like them.
On the good side, I don't know much but I'm willing to share info about my work, DIY gizmos, or anything else where I can. You can ask in-stream or via Flickrmail at any time.

"George's photographs are such a pleasure to view. You will discover a world of miniature that you may never have seen before ... but George does. You will discover new ways to light your subject that you would not have thought of ... but George did. And you may enjoy a game or two withe some photos ... from George's eyes. I am constantly learning from his work - both of the world and its contents and regarding photography."

"I love the triple threat: beautiful composition pictures of ordinary things, great technical skill, ability to edit in software for impossible in-camera results. The fact that George is willing to generously share all this is the raw material from which a community like flickr is built. Thanks for being a teacher and for being so kind with your words."

His photos and his art is is superb. Most of his photos look like they were painted in oil.

"What's the best thing about George? Strangely enough, it isn't that he tells you how to do things on the cheap. It is that he explains how things are done so you know how the expensive version works as well as the cheap one!
Also, after I switched from a Fuji Finepix S602 to a proper digital SLR (Canon E30D), he has got me interested in the things the Fuji can do all over again.
I love it when someone comes up with some really amazing effect and then explains how to copy it in simple language, even to the point that he's done it in Photoshop and I can follow it well enough to translate it into GIMP."10th July, 2006

"I think George should be known as PhotoMUSE, not PhotoPhool. He is such an inspiration to other photographers. His unwaivering encouragement and thoughtfulness has been a bright spot in my photographic journey. And George's brilliant photographs are a joy to all who visit flickr."
