Well, who am I?

I was born in 1965 and grew up in the city of St.Gallen, Switzerland. After having graduated from the University of Zurich (with an MA degree in Japanese Studies, Social Anthropology and Sociology), I was director of an arthouse cinema and editor-in-chief of a Swiss literary magazine.

I also studied film with the directors H. U. Schlumpf (Zurich) and Kanai Katsu (Image Forum Institute, Tokyo).

Since March 1998 I have been living in Kyoto (Japan) where I am active as a filmmaker. I write, produce and direct shorts, documentaries and feature films. If you are interested in my work, please visit my homepage: www.rowmusefilms.com.

Some film clips and trailers of my films are on YouTube: www.youtube.com/profile?user=rowmuse or on vimeo vimeo.com/rowmuse

Years ago I bought my first digital camera because I needed decent still images of my films. The camera has eventually become my constant companion with which I capture the daily life and culture in Japan.
My photo book "Five Years in Kyoto" came out in Spring 2004 (ISBN:3-9521302-3-0).

Currently I am using a Canon EOS 7 D and a Lumix DMC-LX3.
