    Dan Knauss says:

"I've long enjoyed seeing SKY✡VU's new material as he added to flickr, not to mention his very active participation and thoughtful comments. I was lucky to have a bit of time recently to look over the body of work that he has shared with all of us, and I don't think it's an overstatement to say that SKY✡VU is a national treasure. Here's wishing him long life, good health, and happy shooting."

    FotoEdge says:

"Over the years, Jim has managed to capture such a complex and remarkable diary of the American Street. You have traveled all the backroads and alleys scooping up what the early 20th Century Road Travelers experienced on the days before the interstate road system. Keep up your important & wonderful, historic and artful work!"

    Pete Zarria says:

"I had to write this to express my gratitude to these few photographers who have inspired me so much. These words may seem overblown, I don't know, when one has had the scales removed from their eyes, is there such a thing as too much gratitude?

I call them the "Usual Suspects" since some sort of old movie reference seems in line with the Gestalt of what these few have produced. What they do, what they have done that is important to today and to history. Simple recorders of events and things perhaps, but then so were those who left us the mystery of the petroglyphs. But in these fews efforts something of us and our past are preserved. That's important.

So to Roadsidepictures, who got the ball rolling, Allen, Thanks for making me see with new eyes. To Vintage Roadside, Jeff, you helped me to see and understand why its important. To loungelistner, Gary, thanks, you helped me do it with a new sense of joy. And to SKY✡VU, Jim, you are just an inspiration by simply being. Amazing what this one man has accomplished.

These few, these four led to others who have their own lessons to teach to those who will listen, to those who will "see": Thanks to HappyShooter, Fotoedge, Army.Arch, Julia, Alan of Marion, Dave van Hulsteyn, Dennis Dixon, Joey Harrison. Appreciating this thing called urban or Roadside America is just a big jigsaw puzzle. But I'm having way more fun putting it together."

"As someone who lives in England and has never been to America (yet), the pictures of SkyVu are the next best thing to being there!

May your lens always be open, may your eyes never be shut and may your enthusiasm for the finer details never be diminished!

    regards
    Michael"

"I love Jim's eye for the old and wonderful hotels and motels of yesteryear! He has such an amazing collection of cool old signs, the kind that you don't see much anymore. I am so glad he is capturing these before they disappear forever to be replaced by the cookie cutter modern signs of today! Thanks Sky Vu! :-)"

    Tee Pee Motel says:

"I can't think of more to say about Sky's talents than what has been said already. When viewing one of his pictures you can actually feel like you are there when he takes the picture. He gives his objects beauty that can't be seen just by looking at it. It's like he gives you an extra set of eyes to see the beauty within.

I envy Sky in that he can travel and show the world all the wonderful things out there. We can travel thru him ~ awesome!

Keep up the awesome work Sky!!"

    My Blue Dragon says:

"Jim is the kind of photographer I wish I could be. He finds the beauty in the old and sometimes crusty/rusty things that most of us are just driving past, windows rolled up, AC cranked up. His photographs say 'Stop and take a look, because soon I could be gone'"

"Jim is truly the king of the motel sign photos! I love his work and am really glad he has photographed so many of these treasures which are rapidly disappearing. He's also a friendly person who cares deeply about his photography and administration of his groups. That impresses me!"

    Kristen Lou says:

"Jim is the real deal - an extremely accomplished photographer with an eye for the rich beauty of the open road. His landscapes are evocative and dreamlike and his collection of motel signs pure joy. You simply want to walk into his photos and spend time there. I, for one, am thankful he has captured so much of the texture of this part of American life which seems harder and harder to find today."
