manuptheroad says:
"Generous and insightful - not only a great photographer with a unique personal vision, but a gentleman too. If you need reminding what's so good about Flickr, just take a look at Mark's stream."

Matt Madd says:
"There are many great photographers here in Flickr, but I have not left any testimonial on them.....because I am still searching for that elusive one that deserve this accolade--->Mark's photos are unique,fine-art and sentimental......they are to visual art what jazz is to music.....to know more.....start looking through his photostream!"

sir fanceepants says:
"Mark's work is truly fantastic. For me, he breaks traditional boundaries that I've seen in photography. When I look in to the various worlds Mark creates, I feel like I'm facing a surreal (but somehow familiar), dreamlike porthole that I want to enter and escape our existing world."

squarerootofnine says:
"for more than a year, Mark has impressed me with his intelligent, thought provoking comments. and has challenged me to see light as being worthy of the role of subject in a photograph."

Dom Ciancibelli says:
"Over the years one of the qualities I've admired in fine photographic images is the ability to make an image glow. A glow that seems to emanate from deep within. As though the image had imbedded in it a neon heart at it's center. For me Mark's images contain this "electricity." The color and tonality that he extracts in each image run the gamut from smoldering to blazing. I know few others that can consistently extract this quality from their work. i believe the passion this man has for his work is reflected in each image he produces."

"Master of the square format, Mark never ceases to amaze and inspire me. And he's pretty easy on the eyes too."

John Magnet Bell, Wearing a Red Tie says:
"There's one thing I find most impressive about Mark's work. He does not adapt to reality; the opposite is true.
He sees numen where most of us would find none, transcendence in the commonplace; that alone would take talent. Yet talent is nothing without hard work. Mark is one of the hardest-working photographers on Flickr. Time and again he shapes his vision, adding beauty to beauty, flux to flux.
A great photographer once said that nature is the artist, and the photographer only a witness.
Not all photographers are adequate witnesses. Mark is. This is why he stands out, and why people enjoy his work so much, myself included.
I must resort to another paraphrase: The best books are those that tell us what we already know, but have been powerless to express. When someone comes along whose language we recognize, we are awed. Such persons inspire, challenge and provoke, and make art, art of any kind, a worthwhile pursuit.
My recommendation: lose yourself in Mark's work. You have everything to gain."11th February, 2007

Brandon Proctor Photography says:
"He draws you to the center with vingetting, and leads you through images depicting such dreamlike states you wonder if it is your concious or unconcious self that is viewing them. Well done."

Norma Desmond says:
"well the man chose a very apt name because his brilliance lies in the realm of manipulating light - I love his strangely lit world and stay there regularly
but there is no question that the person behind it it is the reason I come back - so thoughtful and compassionate
come stay a while...."9th December, 2006

~~David says:
"Everyone below has said it. But, I'd just like to add the following:
Mark is wonderful photographer - I sometimes wonder if he's on a completely different planet, because his vision is almost alien to me. Looking at his stream has brought me stacks of pleasure, and taught me loads in the bargain. His roads are becoming iconic as we speak - but go back in his stream, and seek out some of the backwaters - you won't be disappointed.
But most of all, he is also one of the most generous and kindest people I've come across in this virtual visual soup. Cheers Mark, here's to you."8th December, 2006

joey kennedy says:
"Marks work is simply brilliant! Not only do i love his treatments/post processing, but i love the energy of his work. There is a spiritual flavor to it that keeps me checking his stream for inspiration! Keep it coming my friend!"

catgotti says:
"Marks photos make me want to go to photography school. They make me want to be a better photographer, to run out and shoot anything and everything I see, and I was bad before having "met" the ambientlight. I am often filled with awe on seeing his photos and I find myself, like so many others, constantly coming back to his work. His portrayal of the human spirit and the beauty of this earth we live on, is thought provoking and completely breath taking. His work has the ability to reach out and grab your attention, stay for a while and ponder. I find his art truly inspiring!"

Maddy C. says:
"Mark is such a fantastic guy and his work is fabulous. I am always inspired by his creativity...he is without a doubt one of the best photographers on Flickr.
Thank you Mark, for all the inspiration and for showing us the world through your lens."30th October, 2006

Esther Demaría says:
"Mark has a special sesitivity with which he is able to surround his photographies of a delicate beauty."

Damned Thing says:
"Why do I keep coming back to Mark's images? For the simple reason that he doesn't just take photographs, at least not in the same bland boring way as anyone who can unthinkingly press a button and be satisfied with the results does. Mark achieves far more than that: he captures memories, instances of mood, emotion and feeling in a way that makes you see things differently. There's an art to that."

raymck says:
"There's an old expression... "A picture is worth a thousand words."
Sometimes, there are pictures that are worth a thousand pictures because they either tell a story or make it very easy for the viewer to create their own story.
Ambientlight's images have this quality. They draw you in and provide a backdrop for adventure. You create your own story or attach the image to another story you've already heard either in prose or song."30th August, 2006

Very Good with Computers says:
"One of the qualities that keeps me coming back to Mark's images is the wonderful colours - glass-like blue towers that could be from some future city, or a blue road (almost indigo / violet) stretching away for ever. These are complemented by wonderful Australian landscapes which show no evidence of the hand of man at all - some of which make me think of a terraformed Mars. Mark clearly has that rare quality, a genuine sense of wonder at what this world can show us (and what other worlds might hold if we ever see them). Spend some time looking @ his photostream - you'll be rewarded."

Mark Estabrook says:
"I cannot believe I am the first to write a testimonial for Mark. Just click on his "everything" link and you can tell the quality of his work by looking at the thumbnails alone. He earns a living as a photographer of people, but it is obvious you or your firm ought to be hiring him for shoots in all media formats."
