Joël Kiel is a self taught photographer form the Netherlands.

He's interested in documenting the world around him, and meeting new interesting things and people in that process.

He was the main photographer of Subtopia, a Drum&Bass party in Amersfoort, for about 5,5 years. And that's where he met the organizer Bernd Oschelda.
Bernd became interested in photography and Joël taught him everything he knew.

In the summer of 2009 they both went to the Soestduinen in Amersfoort, to experiment with Long Exposures. From then on they were hooked! And have been Lightpainting up till summer 2011.

Unfortunately the group fell apart at the end of the summer in 2011. But that doesn't mean Joël has stopped making lightpaintings.

His main photography consists of Low-Light photography, i.e. Concerts, Lightpainting, And difficult lighting situations in general.

In September 2011 he started working at the Lomography Gallery Store Amsterdam.
