Sangroncito's photostream
|
If it's exotic, colorful, strange, beautiful or full of emotion then I want to capture it.
And to think that just a few short years ago I hated photography. I believed that viewing the world through the lens of a camera was only for bermuda short-wearing tourists who were more interested in collecting photographic souvenirs to take home than in experiencing the "moment".....whatever that might be. On the rare occasions when I did take photos I paid no attention to composition or technique. It was all "point and shoot" with the intention of getting it over with as quickly as possible. And so with a few exceptions I managed to visit over forty countries in the world without taking a photo in most of them.
Then I got my first digital camera and realized that I could slip it in and out of my pocket without drawing attention to myself, and slowly I became hooked on capturing everything in my path. Soon after I began to dig through the musty old boxes in my garage to find, scan and upload the photos of my childhood, my ancestors and those rare and precious photos that I did somehow manage to take on some of my past travels.
Now I don't go anywhere without my camera. Who knows. Even a quick trip to the corner grocery store might lead to the "next best shot". But what I really love is getting on the next flight--with my camera, of course--and having an adventure somewhere in "Sangroncito's World".
I split my year between San Francisco, California and Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, and in-between I do everything I can to travel to other parts of Latin America.
If you'd like to add me as a contact, please have a bit of personal information in your profile and at least a few photos in your photostream that were taken by yourself (as opposed to images taken off the internet). And I kindly request that the copyright on my photos be respected. Thanks, Gracias, Obrigado, Merci, Danke, Grazie......
(I am way over 18, by the way, for those who are interested)

"Sangroncito is great at capturing the graphic elements of our wonderful city. His stylized images make the mundane beautiful and accentuate life's sadness and joy. His travel photographs are also captivating and his Brasil pictures portray the warmth of the country and its people."

"More and more I am coming to the notion that simply presenting a record of what one has seen and experienced in life is a viable life work. To truly "see" anything or anyone is to experience a unique emergence of life in an utterly unique moment. In this sense, to see is to love. I have finally decided that Sangroncito's photographs are the record of his many passions, and, as such, I am very grateful that he has chosen to share them with us."

"Have you ever had a vivid dream so delightfully, surprising, you wish you had not awoken from? One that transcends you to a tropical place far, far away, filled with luscious colorful visions, and never-ending adventures?
Sangroncito's images are so beautiful and enchanting one can feel the heated tropical sea mist, upon their skin, taste the sweet flesh of ripe fruits seen in his photographs, and be touched by the alluring characters he keeps alive in his captures.
It's not a dream, it's all real. Wake up, or you'll miss the next Adventure!
Sangroncito's World, Nostalgic, Addictive, and Highly Recommend."16th April, 2008

Catherine O'Neil says:
"I've been following Sangroncito's various blogs and photographs for some years now. He does indeed manage to transport us all to foreign, far flung exotic places and whets our appetites for travel! His life is full of adventure & drama, joy & sadness, happiness & hysteria which he captures so beautifully in his photographs & in his tales on his blog. Sangroncito - your photographs & stories are constant rays of sunshine in my [when-I'm-not-travelling] dull city office existence and I am so fortunate to have met you. Beijos e abraços, Catherine."
