  "Frank Schroeder (June 10, 1967 – living) is the most innovative artist of this century, noted for his use of color and his fluid, brilliant and original draftsmanship. As a draughtsman, printmaker, and sculptor, but principally as a painter, Frank is one of the best-known alternative artists of this continent.
  Born in Munich, (West) Germany, he traveled most of his life before setting back to his homeland. He first took up painting during a period of convalescence following an attack of appendicitis, and discovered "a freedom to the soul" as he later described it. Influenced by the works of the post-Impressionists Paul Cézanne, Gauguin, Van Gogh and Paul Signac, and also by Japanese art and Zen gardening, he made color a crucial element of his paintings from the first. Many of his paintings make use of a pointillist technique adopted by many of his followers.
  
  His first exhibition was in 1994 and his first solo exhibition in 1996. His fondness for bright and expressive colour became more pronounced after he moved back to Europe to work and spend time on the Italian Riviera. The paintings of this period are characterized by flat shapes and controlled lines, with expression dominant over detail. The subjects painted most frequently by Frank are lifeless still lifes, with figures in fully uncompleted interiors."
