Retired Chemist, using a Nikon D300 with mostly old manual focus lenses. I enjoy experimenting with lenses and lens combinations. I like to push the limits of my "old school" equipment. I'd love to have some high$$ modern lenses, but I just can't justify the expense for my strictly amateur hobby. My screen name, "gauchocat" is a combination of the mascots for the two Universities I attended: The University of California at Santa Barbara Gauchos, and the University of Arizona Wildcats.

"Take 10 minutes, get a favorite drink, and put gauchocat's photostream on slideshow. This is one of the true pleasures of flickr as his images are made to be seen large and on black. These bright, colourful and high-contrast shots are exposed and composed to such a high technical standard that at first you may find them clinical. You will soon be disabused of this impression - as you progress you will begin to get a feel for the artistry driving the technique."

"I'm pretty much in awe of Glenn's macro work. I can't imagine even finding the minute creatures his work often features, never mind being able to capture them in such a crisp & artistic fashion. I also greatly appreciate the desert scenes he shares with the Flickr community as it is as different from anything I've ever experienced first hand. He makes everything look good, from a huge prickly cactus to the smallest insect. I always look forward to seeing his latest works and am happy to have found his photostream."

"Glenn is an awesome photographer! I have had the pleasure of shooting with him and have learned something every time. He is a quiet but very competent man who is a pleasure to shoot with. I look forward to each of his wonderful posts and I am in awe of his macro work. I have to admit that I still don't understand the set up he uses, but the results are stunning. BRAVO to you Glenn. Keep posting these gems."

"Mr. Seplaks' work never ceases to amaze me! He seems to have the uncanny ability to catch nature in her most intimate moments; either he has the world's best timing or speaks to nature herself, regardless he is there to catch it for the whole world to see and marvel. Truly an inspirational photographer is Mr. Seplak to me!
