My life is music, all ways of making it and all ways of reproducing it. A few of my pictures have links to music I improvise when inspired by the picture - and I get the necessary peace and quiet :-)

I'm certainly not a photographer of any merit. Although I have always had a deep love of visual art, I have never had the talent to create it, being more of a 'sound and music' kind of guy than a visually inspired thinker, as my profession suggests. In my early twenties when I was single I took photography more seriously, having the time to conceive and set up shots. I have a mountain of 35mm slides from those days. These days family life has dictated that my more recent collection of around 3000 or so digital pictures are necessarily mostly snaps of the children, family events and holiday memoirs.

I toyed with flickr around a year ago putting up a few digital snaps and after having previously lost interest I've been inspired to return to flickr by a good friend, who turned up the other week with a very natty new camera :-) flickr.com/photos/neilcrane/

I am so very grateful - as I have been introduced to what has now become a fantastic collection of art and personal expression I had not realised the existence of before. Crossing the whole spectrum of taste and culture, flickr and the wider networked community it represents is a fantastic 'window' on humanity that I now treasure so deeply. I have been truly amazed and humbled.

Obviously my rather limited contribution means that I am necessarily a net receiver of other people's creations rather than a worthy contributor myself. I have many more favs from others of great talent than worthy pics of my own. I hope I may be forgiven for that :-)

Because I can't really get my head around the rather complex rules regarding flickr censorship, I have consigned any and all pictures of even remotely risky content to friends and/or family categories only..
