  "It's almost impossible for anyone to use language to describe what occurs when the work of a truly skillful photographer is seen, since photography is a medium that works its magic without words and exists in a realm of visual "immediacy." There is a compact between the image and the viewer's eye that is made; a circuit is "closed" and a pictorial "electricity" flows between generative image and receptive viewer and sparks feeling that goes quite beyond language.
  
  Todd is an immensely gifted photographer and his photos never fail to spark that moment of sudden, immediate excitement, that wordless "ahhh" that triggers both "recognition" and wonder. I know of no one who evidences greater clarity of vision or better "truthfulness" in observation than he. In all his photos, but especially in his portraiture, Todd reaches for an absolute honesty that combines both compositional excellence and artistic integrity. That he manages -- again and again -- to succeed in grasping that honesty, is nothing short of astounding. There's depth and complexity to his work, and an unflinching (but sympathetic) eye he brings to each image. That's a rare gift to find in a world that often seems to prize illusion above reality, "spin" above substance; we may all be grateful that Todd is able to "reach" through the layers of personality and find that essential "true" emotion, capture it, and bring it to his photostream to share with the rest of us.
  
  I realize that I'm getting prolix here, but I cannot fail to note, in passing, how generous this man is in assisting other photographers with his technical knowledge and sharing his expertise in this medium with those of us (and here, I'm speaking of myself!) who are just beginning our explorations in photography. Thank you, Todd -- for being a wonderful friend, a wonderful photographer, and -- most especially -- a wonderful man!"
