I originally joined Flickr back in the summer of 2005, while I was in Herceg Novi, Montenegro, where I usually spend my summers...

I had my little point & shoot 3.2 mp Sony Cybershot digicam with me, and I wanted to find a place online to dump all my casual summer photos...

See - in the previous years, I had put up some "albums" on MSN Photo Community pages (classic non-artistic snapshots of my son as an infant, etc...) but those got torn down when MSN, I guess, gave up on the whole concept. So - I googled and searched for a new tool online, that would allow me to throw my pics up for all my friends and family back home to view - nothing more, nothing less.

Enter Flickr... (before Yahoo acquired it - yes, I'm old skool ;))

I had no idea of the capabilities it had, nor did I realize that there was this whole community behind it... I just signed up, dumped ALL my summer photos on the stream, without any thought (or as you can tell - post-processing ;)) I then became busy with.. well - my vacation, which was soon ending, so I didn't pay any attention to Flickr for a few weeks...

Within days of getting home to Toronto, I had a chance to look into it more in depth - and... the rest is pretty much history!! If you go through my stream - you can actually see the moment I went from that first summer "dump" (what an appropriate word! :-P) to what I am doing now...

I see so many people on Flickr that say things in their profiles like "When I first joined, all I knew how to do was turn on the camera...", and that is really what makes this place so invaluable... We push and inspire each other and ourselves to go further, experiment, and ultimately excel at what we do...

As far as I'm concerned - it is a priceless opportunity that most of us wouldn't have if it weren't for the incredible age of technological wonder we live in... Why not take full advantage of it? :)))

As someone once pointed out - you will find that my stream is a mix of the artful and the informal... I don't stick to a theme and I do not feel as though I have an "image" to uphold...
I am a novice photographer, eager to learn & experiment - though I've been in the Graphic/New Media Design field for exactly a decade now... I'm here to throw up whatever I damn please at any given moment - so Flickr snobs - beware!!
I simply don't care... ;))

Equipment Used: I got my new baby, Canon Rebel XT, in June/06, and I feel like I've still only scratched the surface!! Learning new things each time I shoot... Hours of endless fun! :))) It came with a 18-55mm standard Canon lense; I also have a wide-angle and macro.. some generic no-name brand :-P ... As mentioned above, the first batch of photos in my stream (2005) was taken with my little Sony Cyber-shot 3.2mp... Ha! Be gone, inferior camera! You serve as Luka's toy now :-P
