In my other life, I'm a writer and an editor. I've always been interested in photography and have taken photos professionally for newspapers (not as my main job) and for a website, www.irishphiladelphia.com, which I do with a fellow writer and photographer who is also a longtime friend.

Flickr has become my photography class. If I fave your photo, it means that I've learned something from it (or it's just so damned beautiful or clever that I have to have it close to me!). I feel responsible to my contacts to regularly visit and comment on their streams though, like most people, I sometimes get so busy I fall behind. Eventually, I'll get to you! I don't expect reciprocity, though it's always nice. If I make you a contact, it's because I want to see your work on a regular basis. You are my teacher and my inspiration and, frankly, I just like your pictures. If you mark me as a contact and I don't reciprocate, don't be offended! I have lots of contacts and it's really important to me that I see and comment on their work regularly. I will do that before I enter my own photos in groups when invited.
