Accepting photography as an insufficient medium to portrait the complexity of our world and its happenings, I’m yet convinced that it holds some possibilities to touch, provoke and even change human beings. The challenge of photographers is to catch a glimpse of the reality, including its visible as well as its invisible substances, capture them with the camera and finally give other people access to them, meaning, giving them the chance of seeing these moments the same way the photographer did while taking the picture.
In taking pictures, I try to pass on my view on things, events or situations, intending to evoke certain feelings and moods. In many of my pictures, these keywords could be named: love, hope, simplicity, silence, love of life, care about this planet earth, warmth, security. I’m using the word “oikeo” for a whole construction of these moods and feelings, which is a verb in Greek, meaning “to dwell in” or “to live in”. I’m using the word as an expression of total contentedness, being at the right place at the right time.
