"eclectic" - Unrelated and unspecialized. Crossing a range or mixture of specialties. Selecting a mixture of what appear to be best of various doctrines, methods, or styles. So, I shoot a lot of different images - food, landscapes, people, tango dancers, national parks, friends, the books that I read, the crazy things I see on my journeys around the globe. There's no rhyme or reason, it's just whatever interests me. Thus, eclectic.

Sometimes I'll fiddle a bit with contrast, sometimes I'll fool with posterizing, rarely do I delve further into PS, and often I'll go WYSIWYG. Whatever strikes my mood, or attention span. Sometimes I get lazy and don't want to primp the photo any more - got a busy life going on here, a real and interesting day job, family relations, buddhist practice (I practice because I NEED to practice) and am dancing tango regularly - so it's not always a coherent ouevre you see in my photostream. Consistency's not my bag. : )

When I was a kid, I had a rudimentary 110 film camera, and then a much treasured Polaroid - with its resurgence in popularity I've seen here on Flickr I wonder whatever happened to mine. As a teen, I despised any attempt by my shutterbug father to be caught in his viewfinder. Ironically, probably predictably, my own teen reacts the same way to his shutterbugging father. Despite our best efforts to flee 180 degrees in the opposite direction, we repeat our parents good, and bad, habits. Life is funny that way.

Jack of all trades, master of none, as Ben Franklin famously described himself, definitely would be too generous if applied to me, but my photographic and life interests range across such an eclectic prism that there's likely to be many different subjects within my photos. All but a handful of photos were taken by me - portraits, landscapes, macro's, wildlife, dancers, inanimate objects - the cornucopia of life makes me smile and all of it interests me.
