In September 1995 I began my formal art training, although I had always had a passion for drawing and painting. My studies began at Clarence Street Community College in Liverpool, where I completed GCSE Design, Critical Studies in Art and Design, Preparation for specialist studies and ‘A’ level Art. During my time at Clarence Street I immersed myself in the study of art history and experimented with many different techniques. I soon found an affinity with Pop Art and my own work began to move in this direction.

I remained at Clarence Street and in September 1996 I began my foundation year, which would enable me to study Art at degree level. I continued to develop my work and to be influenced by the work of both my contemporaries and artists from previous generations. I began to research British Pop Art and was captivated by the work of David Hockney. In June 1997 I left Clarence Street College with an Access to Higher Education qualification, a place at Wirral Metropolitan College to study Fine Art at degree level and a thirst to develop my own style.

In September 1997 I began my degree course where I was encouraged to experiment with all aspects of art, including life drawing and sculpture. This gave me an appreciation and understanding of other aspects of making, however my passion remained with painting. I was fascinated by the idea of portraying movement in a still image and with minimal detail, allowing the viewer to add their own interpretation. As I was also passionate about sport I used this as a basis for my work, collecting images which capture a moment of impact or split second of movement. I focused largely on football and found some success with this work, including a number of commissions and other works. During this time I completed a painting of a Tranmere Rovers player, which I was able to present to the club to be hung at their ground, Prenton Park.

In June 2000 I graduated from Wirral Metropolitan College with a B.A. (Hons) in Fine Art. Since graduating I have continued to paint as much as possible and have developed my style to include a more diverse range of subjects including portraits and landscapes. I have sold a number of paintings and completed several commissions.
