All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

    "Your work is as young and entertaining as you are, yet it has a depth and soul that feels ancient and wise. There is always a story in each photograph that keeps me wondering, and keeps me coming back for more."

    Diary no.16 says:

    "I don't remember how I arrived in Akshay's space ... anyway, I am happy that I did. and I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a testimonial!

    Okay where do i start? When i think of Akshay's photo stream, i think of classic black and white films, of salads and soup and film and beautiful old buildings.. the more i grow as an artist, the more i've come to appreciate his sensitivity for the art. He is technically talented, very creative, funny, an artist with much wit and intelligence and this photographer knows how to get the most from a camera.
    I find myself falling in love with Akshay's work with film. I love his aesthetics. it's very sincere. very real. You can see his dedicated practice cause he just gets better and better with his work.

    He can take something so commonplace and ordinary and make it appear breathtakingly beautiful and original [Case in point: the picture of the cycle and white shirt]. You get a glimpse of places, wonderful little nooks and corners around him. His use of composition and light is so obviously a natural gift. Not only his pictures but his narratives sound like they are out of a vintage leather bound volume.

    Truly a great artist with a penchant for old records and all things vintage.
    I'm very glad we are friends.

    PS: he happens to be a ridiculously kind and lovely person which doesn't hurt ;)

    streetcorner says:

    "Testimonial long over-due...
    Aky deserves the best complement one could give to a photographer : he is unique. Peering over his photographs is like opening a kid's toy-box : it's full of little treasures - snazzy self portraits, family snaps, street reportage, black and white landscapes, models - which reveal much of its owner's personality. Aky has the amazing talent of revealing the beauty in the simple, the incredible in the ordinary, and to express in a simple image a breathtaking range of emotion. Aky's photography is Aky's photography, and no other's."

    "Visual poetry… that is how I describe Akshay’s photographic style. He has an uncanny ability to go beyond the technical aspects of a picture and actually convey stories and emotion. His understanding of lights and shadows shines thru in his black and white photography and his film photography is simply superb.

    Aky, you are truly an inspiration!"
