    d i a n e p o w e r s[littleTimeandSoBehind] says:

"It's been said that, " the essence of the avant-garde myth is that the artist is a precursor; the truly significant work of art is the one that prepares the future. The transitional focus of culture, on the other hand, tends to treat the present (the living artist) as the culmination of the past" Robert Hughes tries to explain why the function of art is so easily overlooked.
There's the feeling that there is no complacent audience that you seek rather an inner eye which embraces a world through your juxtaposition that is pure genius. Your work is loved and deeply appreciated."

"It's been long since Kansas my friend and we ain't there no more but the works keep getting better and better, your world is deep but you keep me floating on the surface..........................."

    stagewhisper says:

"SR/Gonzo is the real deal. Any flash and surface style (and there is so much of that!) is strictly incidental in his art-making process, which can only be described as a relentless digging below the aesthetic skin for inner and outer truths. His work makes me want to be better. A better artist certainly, but also a better, more inquisitive, person.
    Rock on, Steve!"

    Archer's Eye says:

"I have said before that SR/Gonzo® is a gem in a barrel of pebbles, a blue feather in a pile of leaves, a volunteer squash in a compost heap. His work offers outlandish candor, freakish accuracy, eccentric genius, and quite frankly, a feast of imagery upon which I unabashedly gorge. SR/Gonzo® is a well spring of extraordinary intellectual and creative power. He is one of my favorite places to be.

These are antiquities from the future. This is the song of the heartland being broadcast from outer space."

"As rare as clean air in Malta! < that says something.

Stephen is a muse to all the muses.
His stream is introspective and explodes giving little bursts in every direction.
His train of thought is like a Gamma trail in the cloud chamber! - never ending, twiggly, heavily penetrating and bizzarre!

But what strikes me most is his modesty! Many people should really learn alot from that.

Steve I don't wish alot of things. I just wish you never die -at least till I'm alive!"

    * sup ress * says:

"with my new account 'cuz I continue to think it ;)

    "au début, j'ai écrit ça;

stephen roy is one of my favorite "flickers" to comment and also to not comment... to keep for myself my feelings behind his works (sorry for my bad english)...
but I have to say... I love it I think ;-)

I don't care... Steve est le plus troublant artiste de flick r à mon sens !

il est notre vie d'éclatante folie""

    .LDC. says:

""To observe and appreciate is difficult,
often people tend to remain on the surface,
to scared to go deep, and discover what reality really is,or could be.
I think Steve, has already discovered many realities and now his posing the question to us.
We are the spectators, often participants, in this game of hide and seek,
most of us also want to know.
We can decide to deliberately ignore, or play the game!
Stephen Roy has created for us an intricate pattern of symbols, images, icons and worlds,
all awaiting to be discovered, timeless art pieces that hold the key to a better understanding of his universe, and maybe of our own one.
Some of us can easily identify with his work, find themselves at home,
become participants and share the elements in this virtual world created out of reality.
    But again what is reality?
Well, ask yourself, and if you are still unsure, go inside, have a look,
you might get some answers, and if not, you have perhaps
discovered a brand new last resort, a place where you can think
to get away, from our dark days of reality!""

    "this is modern spiritual art.
i was going to say sacral, but
    that would superimpose some sort
    of dogma.
how about this - spiritual atomic bomb.
he uses confusion as his stepping stone.
    i'm a fan."

"Creatively, Stephen Roy is a spiraling Mobius strip of inevitables, intuitions, ideas, inspirations, and all the other good words that start with the letter "i". Plus all the other good words that start with the other 25 letters in the alphabet.

Slyly brilliant. Also self-effacing and loyal. And adorkable."

    lunaryuna AGAINST CENSORSHIP says:

"If you are for being immersed in bold, trippy, mind-warping and profoundly unsettling art, sharp as a blade and unforgiving as expected from a devoted artist, then you might have found your treasure box here!

Stephen's art is a never ending pealing off of layers, some very obvious, others of the most amazing subtlety, but all reflect one thing: here is a mind at work that has all senses working as its antennas without protecting filters. Be prepared for a hot-cold-hot shower of emotions and strongly impacting visuals, of acidly biting wit and irony, both in images that are very appealing at first sight, but are offering so much more: inspiration and impulse to those who come for it!"
