On March 8th 2007, 6 in the morning 50 students and leprosy patients was violently pulled and dragged by the police during a sit-in protest, one leprosy patient got pulled over on the group even when his prosthesis falls to the ground, another young man got arrested during the disorder. Later on March 10th 2007, around 150 people got arrested, the police drove them up to the mountains without reading out their rights and refused to let them know where they are heading, 1 hour later they were left behind in the middle of nowhere where most of them don't have any money/personal items with them because the earlier arrests by the police. Again the story doesn't end here
Taiwan's Losheng Sanatorium (leprosarium) was built in 1930 to reside the leprosy patients, a lot of them have been living there ever since, however the MRT construction project since 1994 put these patients in a situation where they face to lose LoSheng Sanatorium, which has became a home to them. In 1994, public health bureau announced they have sold Lo Sheng leprosarium to MRT, Lo Sheng faced to be dismantled while there is an alternative scheme (actually better scheme) to alter the project to save it and yet continue with the MRT development. This coercively/inhuman relocation policy today was caused by government miscalculation beforehand, the government have no reason to let these patients bear the government's mistakes.
The history of oppression on Hansen's disease patients has brought concern all around the world for a long time. The main countries in the world have begun to introspect the taiwan's policy of isolation and persecution in the past. The situation about Taiwan Hansen's disease patients is that not only UN has issued a communiqu?warning Taiwan government not to force them to move at July 20, 2005, but the world leprosy origination (IDEA international) also sent a letter to Losheng Reserving Self-reliant Association to show their support on the action of strive for human rights over the past three years. For this reason, we object to the force eviction plan made by Taiwan government. We have known that the Council for Culture Affairs ( governed by the Taiwan government) has brought up a specialized substitute scheme which can reserve 90% of losheng Sanatorium(the 90% project). Therefore, Taiwan government should launch an open, transparent and democratic system examining procedure on this scheme, but not through a rough procedure and rejecting it at random.

Now, our demands are :
The government must launch an open, transparent and democratic examining procedure on the 90% project
Government must stop this "coercively/inhuman" relocation policy to the patients.
More medical service provided for the patients in Lo Sheng
