Highpockets Studio is a tribute to my mother. A tall drink of water who, through her own photographs from her fascinating life, inspires my work. It was those black and white photographs of hers with the bumpy edges and the yellowing corners that sparked my fascination with photography. I really became addicted in college with a Pentax K-1000. In my mind it lives as the greatest camera ever built; don’t ruin it for me.
Very recently I started to shoot in digital and I admit that, although the anticipation a negative brings is sweet, the immediacy of a flash card is quite amusing.
I still shoot in film using a Pentax ZX-30 and, in the near future, a refurbished Pentax K-1000, Voigtländer Brilliant, and an Imperial Magimatic. The majority of the work posted here is currently shot with a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi.
