My photos are an amalgamation of every photograph I've ever admired. I mainly joined Flickr to make my photos available for friends and family but it has made a big difference to my photography: admiring the work of others has led me to shooting subjects and trying techniques I would never have thought of previously.
After 30-odd years I still love photography. Most of the time I was using Nikon FMs but my first digital camera was a Canon S1 IS thanks to Kinotrope's recommendation. I had been using a Canon S3 IS - which I bought for an RTW holiday in 2007 but has now seized up, probably through just being worn out, and am now using an SX100IS - fantastic cameras both, but when I eventually get around to an SLR again it will be Nikon.
I am fond of macro photography but am liable to snap anything that gets my attention otherwise: I'm always on the look out for my next 'good' photo but I don't take it too seriously: I know when I've got a good shot 'in the bag' but don't mind showing those which aren't technically perfect - especially if that's all I could get, or they make me laugh.
