On a cold January morning in Antwerp in 2006, I found a wonderful crazy tweed skirt in a secondhand store.
The skirt was way too long for me, so I made it shorter and now I had a funky tweed skirt and a piece
of fabric just big enough to make a handbag from. I decided to make a test bag out of a less precious
fabric first, to avoid waisting the beautiful tweed piece. I thought I could as well make the test bag a nice bag,
so I added some fabric roses, a nice rhinestone button and an interior pocket with a colourful ribbon.
By that time I thougth: hey... its really big fun to make bags.
The next few days and nights, ideas for bags kept bubbling up in my mind.
I simply had to make bags!
And that’s how Tempel Deluxe was born.

After my graduation from the Academy for the arts in Arnhem, I worked for 13 years for the
world famous brand Oilily. For Oilily I designed childrens and ladieswear as well as prints and fabrics.

In 1995 I started to work as a freelancer for the highly fashionable childrens/teenage labels
Rags Industry and RFG.
I bought an old greengrocers store in central Amsterdam, just a 3 minutes walk from the Rijksmuseum.
The store became my studio and shop and I still live and work there.
Between collections I decorate pottery and make all kinds of things,
like tabletops with faux marble and wood, lamps and chandeliers, handpainted wooden
boxes and more exclusive gifts.

Whenever I take a break from the hectic fashion world you can find me in my studio, creating
the lovingly made items you can see here
