Daren Smith's photostream
|
Devoted to two things in life, my family and photography. My passion lies with traditional black and white, but I have been dragged kicking and screaming into the digital age. Love to share advice, so please ask if I can help, because I am going to ask you.

Should you want to help with my pension fund, use my pictures without my permission! All work is protected by copyright and should not in any circumstance be used for anything, unless I give permission to do so.
I also block anyone who favs a picture and does not have anything available to me and do not like my work to be used in blogs unless I give permission to do so.
Sorry to rant on about this, but it really annoys me how some folk think they have some right to use my work, without my permission, maybe they should work on getting a tallent of their own!

"There are lots of varying grades of photographers on Flickr - Right from the very basic amateur all the way through to the brilliant and the fantastic! And then, very similar to when the astronomer thought that he had found the furthest plant and he then found yet another one, I found the incredible photography of Daren Smith !
Even more incredible about the photography of Daren Smith is the fact that he has produced his master pieces after having suffered years of personal torment !!
Teenage acne, botchulism, herpes, blond hair do’s & jogger’s nipple have not stopped Daren admitting to his personal hygene problems and directly facing up to them head on !
Since Daren’s release from weight watchers and many years of developing both photographs and his love for Jan, along came little Jenny.
Now not to blow Daren’s trumpet ( he apparently can do that himself?? ) he has become a very good friend of mine, who without really knowing me at the time, stood up for me against the bullys of this world… and for that I am truly grateful to him.
So in the words of Andrew Gold
Thank you for being a friend
Traveled down a road and back again
Your heart is true, you're a pal and a confidant
I'm not ashamed to say
I hope it always will stay this way
My hat is off, won't you stand up and take a bow
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend
If it's a car you lack
I'd surely buy you a Cadillac
Whatever you need any time of the day or night
I'm not ashamed to say
I hope it always will stay this way
My hat is off, won't you stand up and take a bow
And when we both get older
With walking canes and hair of gray
Have no fear even though it's hard to hear
I will stand real close and say
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend
And when we die
And float away
Into the night
The milky way
You'll hear me call
As we ascend
I'll say your name
Then once again
Thank you for being a friend
Always Your Friend - SteveMG"28th November, 2008

"Well what can i say about Daren. I have not 'known' him long but in getting to know him i have found him to be a kind, honest, clever, whitty, talented, artistic, whitty, creative, thoughtful, did i say whitty? Guy. His photography skills are vast and diverse and his artistic and creative eye spots an opportunity for a shot that many others would pass by.
Daren, you make me laugh with your comments and mails and you inspire me with your photography, long may you continue to brighten my day, my friend, and the lives of many other flickrites x :-) x"17th December, 2007

"You'll not find a nicer guy on flickr than daren, he's a star!
daren's talents as a photographer need no "fluffing" by a testimonial. you can see the genuis of the skills and talents in his photos... they speak volumes compared to what anyone could write about him. His B&W landscapes are just amazing and i'm very proud to say that i have an original hanging on my wall. for that and the reason behind it daren, i'm always going to be very grateful. such a simple gesture has touched many.
I've only known the "virtual" daren a short time, but within that time its very clear that daren has a fantastic personality, very witty and enjoys having a laugh, he's a proud father and loving, caring partner.
Daren's photostream is definitely one you do not want to miss out on, you'll kick yerself if you do!
keep up the good work hun, and continue to show us the gems you capture!"29th September, 2007

"I remember I asked darren once something about one B&W picture he posted. He not only did answer to my question in a very detailed way but also send my an e-mail with some scanned pages, explaining in detail the technique he used.
Darren is of the kindest people I've met here on flickr and in a really short time we've become good friends. I love his work, especially his B&W pictures which are just STUNNING! I'm not very good at landscapes and I find most of landscape photos boring and very postcard-like but Darren's work is totally different. He knows how to take the essence of time, light and place and immortalize it in his photograps.
A true professional, master of B&W landscapes and, above all, a great friend!"24th August, 2007
