Extra Medium's photostream
|

Hello Internet Person
For shirts - I wear an Extra Medium.
For religion - I wear Extra Christian
There are a lot of people out there with multiple personality disorder, and I'm 2 or 3 of them.
People in wheelchairs like to say they're "disadvantaged". Well, not going downhill.

I don't like to end my sentences with prepositions, as you can see from above.
Dating an ex is like throwing milk in the garbage and 3 days later thinking... maybe it'll be better this time around...
I'm a Californian, and thus, don't talk to my neighbors, or know their names. Nothing personal, but that's "California Friendly" for ya.

I'm also a second generation American, as my grandfather is from the old country (Germany). So as a newer American, I'm still getting used to the customs and language of this wonderful country. If I misspell something, it's because of the difficult language barrier, not because I was lazy and slacked off in elementary school.
I enjoy shooting everything, everyone and anything. I'm always up for a challenge. No job is too big; no payment is too big.
I also sound like I'm drowning while I sleep.
Early on, I had a problem finishing my sentences because when I was
If to error is human, then I'm pretty close to being Superman
I used to shoot with all Nikon equipment, but then last month I was walking through the desert and came across an old defense spy satellite. I extracted the high powered camera inside it, created my own body out of a shopping cart and some Play Doh and have my 4 wheeled camea cart every where I go. The exif data still says Nikon, but I'm telling the truth.
Okay, here is my secret to my vivid photography. Right before I do a shoot, I drink a vial of unicorn tears.

I don't take myself seriously. See above.
I used to do stand up comedy in Hollywood.
I take photos now because I wasn't funny.
If you steal my photos, honestly, I will find you, and stab you in the neck meat with an under ripe banana. Just ask to use my photos, I'll probably say yes
I shoot weddings, because I love the challenge and rewards of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, with a bride who is at her most beautiful.

I only add people I know very well
The first time I remember taking a photo was the last day of high school... the IHOP in Agoura. Took some shots of my friends at breakfast, as I knew it would be the last time we'd all be together. From there, through college, while living in Philly and visiting 25 countries and 41 states, I see the beauty in all places (yes, even Bakersfield and central Texas). I can and will shoot everything from landscapes, kids, weddings, celebs, buildings, bugs, and everything between.
Flickr has been a huge inspiration in my work. I really appreciate the comments as it helps me become a better photographer and delve into photography in other technical and compositional ways. My favorites depict what I consider beautiful, cutting edge, strange, and funny, and I don't add them often
I have a lot of contacts which I try to view most of their photos every day. I have added those people whose work is inspirational, natural, original and revolutionary. I also add some folks close to me, to see how others interpret the local surroundings.
I can type over 200 words per minute. Those words are: a, at and be.
Thank you for adding me, if you do. I don't necessarily add everyone back. I like to view photos from those people which I find interesting, professional or have a unique shooting style. I'm liberal with my comments to them, and I appreciate comments from one and all.

After a big meal, I love to have my bare belly rubbed. (circles preferred)
Some things you should know about me:
* I smell different in person.
* I don't think I could shoplift. They look pretty heavy.
* I dunked a basketball, once
* I am a karate master (2nd degree black belt)
* I'm as flexible as a pencil
I also don't like it when people call me 'boss'. Especially if they're in the service industry. Makes me sound like I own a southern plantation in the 1860s.
People always say don't kill spiders inside your house.... they kill all the other bugs... But... what bugs do I hate worse than spiders? none. Unless there's an 8-legged ladybug with fangs descending from my ceiling, I don't care.

"John, you always come up with the most amazing ideas and then execute them so well... Phenomenal Landscapes, Breathtaking Seascapes, Emotional Weddings, you nail them all. Every time I come to your stream, theres another beauty sitting right there waiting for the world to discover the inherent exquisite beauty in the shot. And you incessently keep producing one masterpiece after another.
Combine that with the all the more interesting writeups that come with ranging from the deepest philosophies to downright funny, and you have a stream that just about rocks!
I'm so very glad to have a talented flickr friend like you.. Wish we could meet someday and there would be so much to learn from you... The best in life for you Mate.
Cheers.

"John is an excellent photographer who is humble about his own work and respectful of the art around him. Such beautiful spirit definitely shines through on his work. I have rarely had the opportunity to photograph the amazing images he has, his work is unbelievable! He is talented, kind, and all about the community within flickr world. I am happy to call him a contact!"

"John is the wedding shooter. He’s the man! If you’re getting married soon (or later) call John now because he’s a busy guy. You won’t be sorry. I’ve got three teenaged daughters and there’s one thing for certain, I’m calling Extra Medium when they walk down the isle. What’s also very cool is that EM is great at shooting a variety of subjects. I should warn you that his landscape shots will make you sick because this guy got to go to all of the place you’ve been dreaming of. I do only have one complaint about Extra Medium as it seems his fave button is stuck?"

"John “Spidey” Mueller is the best Nikon photographer out there, which isn’t saying much. He kinda likes stealing eggs, counting, the Los Angeles Lakers, the letter "X," and his driving buddy Elizabeth (or BETH if she’s being really moody). He has the best happy lines I’ve ever seen. And, he’s the most talented second-shooter I could ask for!!!! ;)

david.richter says:
"I first met John on the poisonous tulip fields of ol' Tucker Mills when he returned from his four-year-long trip to a small dessert east of the Death Valley, housing in a self-made sort of tent, fighting rattlesnakes and deadly giant scorpions, throwing rocks all day and working on different projects at night such as building a new type of 3D pinhole camera. After spending nearly two hours showing him around the property, John suddenly pulls out the above mentioned, perfectly crafted and engineered prototype; packed into an old woolen piece of fabric, covered in oil stains or it might just have been the rattlesnake poison. Without a sign of warning and before any person around him could react, John jumped right into the field of flowering pink, six-petal ninja star tulips we were developing for the Japanese market. Then, there was blood. A lot of blood (to be honest) and John has never been the same after the doctors put him back together. The only thing that didn't change is his love and passion for photography and the undeniable manly love for flowers. Besides these traits which are already worth being mentioned, John is a real comedian, a caring person, a great friend, a wonderful father and the one who tried to pay me in California poppy seeds to type this version of his life."

"Easily one of my favourite photographers here on Flickr, John's photos never fail to capture a whole gamut of emotions. Often with suicidal stories of hikes to take them, you have to take your hat off to the man who it seems is prepared to go to any length in the pursuit of the perfect shot."

"What to say? Well that's pretty easy because this stream is phenomenal. Every shot is creative AND quality. What more could you ask for? Each photo is different and it's impossible to be bored while perusing them. He also (from what I can tell from his photos and profile, if you meet him in person and he is actually , my apologies haha) seems to be a very honest and genuine person, AND he doesn't have any photos of cats from what I can tell (whew). Like I said, it's a real party up in here, so you should definitely crash it!"

"What else is there to say about John??? His talent is bar none, but I think he spends a little time there, his humour (canadian spelling) outstanding, in the field most likely, and his love of life is extra large.
He chimes in on your streams with the best comments, that will make your day. I look forward to his daily rants and images. Keep up the great work John, we need your humble self to keep the flickr site the best place to be..."15th March, 2009

"One day when I was just browsing pictures in flickr and I came across John’s stream. I believe I saw his photo “ Take the plunge”. Yes I can even remember the name of this shot and that is because I just did not like it for the amazing work of camera or post processing. But the way he composed it and the massage he wrote along with it. It all made sense to me. That is John Muller for you Ladies and Gentle men he just does not post a picture just for the heck of it. All his posts have a story behind it. When you look at his shots you don’t see just still frame instead you see many stories inside that frame. I enjoy visiting his stream for all those good reasons. And also many times he has shared his tricks/tips with us. I don’t see many people in flickr that nice to others who they don’t know. John is an inspiration for many photographers in flickr… well I know he inspires me… Thank you John for your great work"

He shares his kindness with tons of people on this little flickr world and somehow seems to keep up with my photo stream even though he has 628 other contacts (and counting .. ) His pictures.. oh boy his pictures. I tell you truthfully I have never seen such insanely awesome hdr photos. He has definitely mastered the hdr technique.
I wish I was talented enough to come up with such a creative story with only one word as he is. I’m sure this testimonial would be much cooler if I could do that, but I had to write something. :]
If you don’t have John as a contact you’re missing out. Big time."28th January, 2009

"John is one incredible photographer. Hailing from the West Coast, I don’t see him as the type to get all involved in the whole East Coast/West Coast photo wars that have been plaguing the industry for years now. His photography skills are amazing. His post-processing and HDR skills are among the best you will find. And he is a testimonial-writing machine! Just scan around and find some he has written. Also check out his profile for a really good laugh. Bottom line is you can spend hours on his Flickr site – you will be dazzled and entertained. Possibly even shocked and awed. Well, maybe not. "Though I have been a photographer for some years now, I discovered and joined the flickr community back in December 2007 and haven’t looked back since. Feeling nostalgic for my California roots, I stumbled on John Mueller’s photography and immediately was taken back by his refreshing and dynamic use of his skills and talents which are apparent by what he posts daily. This stand up guy is truly beyond the normal scope of what you would call the consummate flickr-ite. Using his image stream as a venue, he brings honesty, humor, laughter, creativity and a true sense of life’s enjoyments to millions. His selfless ability to give and expect little or nothing in return is a quality that is lacking in the climate in which we live today. Extramedium is definitely someone I would want in the ring on my side!"

Sarah Schloo says:
"When he's not shooting wonderfully creative and technically astounding images, John likes to live out his fantasies as the superhero "Disco J".
An essential personality in today's society, Disco J's super power lies in the ability to teach elderly relatives how to dance properly. He is often to be seen at weddings, a white suited, fuzzy 'fro'd blur, grooving with the resident geriatrics. Disco J has been likened to the Loch Ness Monster - nigh on impossible to capture on film, and as with Spiderman, the only way you will be able to view images of Disco J is if he takes them himself.
However, he is very active in the wedding business, so the next time you're at a wedding, I urge you to take a closer look at the guy re-enacting Dirty Dancing with your Grandma....it might just be the amazing Disco J."21st April, 2008

"I freaking love John's photostream! Besides that he is a really cool internet person. Thats right...Internet Person. See, on here he is John Mueller a funny, talented and happily married citizen of California who takes wonderful photos at weddings and amazing landscapes. In real life he is Mueller, John Mueller...who likes his drinks stirred, not shaken (seriously shaken drinks are for the weak, Mr. Bond!). His nickname in real life is 'Boss', after his sharp looking Hugo suits. But please dont call him that on flickr, he likes to keep these two lives separated. Keep it up, Bo...i mean John."
