A Danish peasant boy who went to Brussels quite some time ago, just to see the world beyond the parson's garden.
My wife is Belgian and knows which road leads to a man's heart.
Today, my profile bears evidence of this for the whole world to see!

Addendum, 25-8-2007

Having been a Flickr member for 6 months now, and - being if not exactly a walrus, then may be an 'homme de bois' myself - I think that 'the time has come to talk of many things':

1. During those 6 months, I've received 'invitations' from various groups who'd 'love to have' one or more of my photos in their pool. - Although I've said the following elsewhere already, I'm now saying it here, too:

You may have all the photos you'd like to have from me - but WITHOUT ANY CONDITIONS on your part, please !

In case accepting your 'invitation' implies an OBLIGATION on my part to comment on a certain number of photos in your pool, then I'll ignore your 'invitation' - no matter how prestigious you may consider your group to be !

This doesn't mean that I'm against commenting on photos from other members, not at all !
What I'm AGAINST is BEING OBLIGED to comment on a certain number of photos - and I myself should prefer to have received a 'lesser than average' amount of comments from other Flickr members, conscious of the fact that those rather few comments were spontaneous and 'sincere' and NOT a result of any kind of OBLIGATION ! ! !

2. As already pointed out: All my photos are snapshots. - For those among you who'd like to learn something about photography by looking at photos on Flickr I suggest that instead of looking at my photos you study my 'favorites' !
As of this writing, there are more than 6000 photos from other Flickr members there - that I've collected in order to learn something myself, and - thanks to Flickr - at the same time serving as my way of paying tribute to the skills of their owners !

3. The number of photos in my photostream now being more than 1000, I find it important to draw attention to my collections and photosets. Recently, I've posted a set with my 50 most 'interesting' photos, and I suggest you start with that! - You may also like to know that several members have found my third world sets 'interesting' or whatever adjective would be appropriate in that context - I think, you know what I'm trying to say!

4. Finally, for those of you who haven't found out already: In several cases it's NOT the photo only but also the text under the photo that's important - at least in my opinion!
In my photos from Berlin, China, Egypt, Indonesia, Ladakh, Moscow, Tibet and Zaire the text under the photo is often much more important and - as at least some of you have already remarked(!) - 'interesting' than the photos themselves! (Where this is the case I now tag the photos: 'story, storytelling, see text, see comments' or something similar)

Addendum 15 - 5 - 2008 (placed under my photo "Nepal 1987 - 20"):
I want to thank you all for your kind comments to my photos! I know that I ought to do that more often - and make more comments to your photos . - As I've tried to explain in my profile, I'm not very good at making comments myself : to me, the comments I try to make often sound like platitudes! - So, please don't forget that including your photos among my favorites is my way of acknowledging your tatent! - The fact that I've now included more than 11.500 of your photos among my favorites is my "proof" to you that I do look at your photos - even if you haven't received many comments from me!!!
Once again: Thanks for your comments and - I hope(!) - for your understanding! - Jens.

In 2007, I wrote the following:
"2. As already pointed out: All my photos are snapshots. - For those among you who'd like to learn something about photography by looking at photos on Flickr I suggest that instead of looking at my photos you study my 'favorites' !

A few days ago I decided to take advantage of the possibilities offered with Flickr's (new) Gallery grouping and let other members have a look at 'la creme de la creme' - i.e. the very best - among the photos that I've 'collected' since February 2007.

As Flickr has decided that a gallery can contain no more than 18 photos, I've named my galleries 'subject' II, III etc. whenever I've found that more than 18 photos in the category in question merited to be included in a gallery.

All I can say is that this idea has proved a great success so far, the number of daily visits to my galleries exceeding the visits to my photostream!!!
