I'm an aspiring curmudgeon and dilettante who now lives in Nashville after spending 8 years as a transplanted hillbilly in Brooklyn, New York.
I am an ecologist by education and an autodidact by inclination. I don't practice ecology professionally anymore, but I do think that my training as a "systems thinker" informs both work and play.
I know virtually nothing about the technical aspects of photography, but as with my other hobbies, I figure trial and error is the best teacher. That, and honest critics who share my passion.
I guess "shutterbug" is a good term for me since I particularly enjoy taking macro shots of insects and other invertebrates.
I think flickr may turn out to be a great tutor.
