I'm a seeker and a believer, a pilgrim and a pirate, a dreamer and a schemer. After four decades working as a photojournalist, I now work for myself, and I enjoy it.

Somebody paid me good money to take most of these photos, so please--all these images are copyrighted and, should you wish to use them in any way, please contact me.

If you favor my photos and have no pics of your own, an anonymous icon, no profile--I'll block you. This is a sharing experience--right? If you don't care enough to offer some insights about yourself, I have no desire to share any pictures with you. So--sorry this is a general rule of mine. Thanks for the consideration.

    "Joel Davis......
He is the man, the storyteller, Great photographer and a wonderful friend.
His stories take me to undiscovered limits of my dreams, when he touch his Ukulele and sing with his deep rusted voice I feel like flying in the air."

"I love Joel's spirit which comes through in all of his expressions, his photos, commentaries, choices of music and feedback. There never seems to be a false note, Joel appears to be 100% authentic, marinated with wisdom from eyes that have seen and a heart that kept an empathic beat. Joel is steeped in a deep and immediate humanity seasoned with a good dose of humor and I really do hope he will gather his material in to a book, or some kind of form able to reach a larger audience and enrich others as he has enriched me. Joel has certainly been an invaluable part of my flickr experience and he will not likely ever truly comprehend the depth of affect his being has on me and likely so many others. Joel is pure gold and worth every moment spent on his photo stream and do go digging backwards if you haven't seen it all yet!"

"You are a sensitive photographer, who can combine a beautiful image with a text made of loving words. On your stream I sense the love and wisdom of somebody who has a long journey traveled. And I can see it has been a beautiful journey.
Thanks for paying attention to my photographs, for leaving nice words in a testimonial and even a comment in Portuguese on one of my photos a long time ago (and I am sorry if I am not a very frequent visitor).
Um grande abraço para você, Joel!"

    "Dear Joel,
I've been learning to "know" you a bit better with every picture I see and every story you write. I am more and more convinced that you should publish a book.
Not only you have a unique talent for story telling, but you do it in an honest way which goes right to the heart. You bring something precious to me as a reader, and I know we are many who enjoy your writings.

I like your sense of humor and your sensibility. I love your ability to be so open and share your thoughts and amazing stories with anyone on Flickr.
Your pictures are like you, interesting, revealing, honest; they make me feel and think.

Since I've found you on Flickr, not too long ago, and completely by accident, but then again, I don't really believe in accidents, I've grown to admire you and your love for your family, your dogs, your friends. It is touching. I find myself always looking through your photo stream to learn some more.

It's amazing how much one can learn from somebody one has never met in person, someone like you who is capable of sharing one's life, music, family, friends, ideas, thoughts, memories, experiences... all that and so much more. And to think that Portland was the bate, the only reason I stumbled into your pictures...

Thanks for all of that, Joel, Buckaroo Bob.

Be happy, healthy and well and go on inspiring people like me scattered all over the world.

Thanks for reaching out. You've got a friend in me."

His photostream is a wealth of talent and human interest and one of flickr's treasures. The occasional links to a ukelele number on youtube is certainly worth the price of admission!
Thank you Joel for sharing your life and your world with us!"

Wise, witty, and observant, he actually IS the original decent cowboy outfit!"

"BuckarooBob, well I do not know him personally, don't know what
he looks like, he can not be that bad looking cause he's not much
older than me. I'd like to think he's kind of a "Howdy-Doody" kind of
guy. The thing that keeps making me check my photos is the wait
in anticipation to see what he's written in the comment box. His
comments are so from the heart and you can tell that he is just an
all around fun guy.His loved one's know they've got a "Good One
Here"! Not to mention that he has some pretty amazing photos. Make
sure you check out his "Red Road" set. It's awesome tribute to the
Native Americans. I'm glad my friend Ron told me about flickr.
Because this tells me that their are decent, fun, loving men around!
Even if he's taken,Bless you BuckarooBob! Diana"
