I graduated from the University of Kansas in 1996 with a master's degree in art history. I caught the photography bug a few years ago when a friend bought a Nikon D100. I use a Nikon D70, usually with a Nikkor 35mm prime lens.
Some of my favorite photographers include Jim Brandenberg, Richard Avedon ("In the American West"), Robert Frank, Karl Blossfeldt, Bernd and Hilla Becher, Joel Peter Witkin, and 19th century western landscape photographers (Timothy O'Sullivan, Eadweard Muybridge, Carleton Watkins).
