About Mon Corpuz

Photographer Mon Corpuz, 31, is a graphic designer, usability architect, web producer, mountaineer and a teacher.

He shoots non-fiction photography; landscapes, long exposures, festivals, heritage and social documentaries during travel.

The past president of a camera club Pinoy Photography Organization, the photo club behind the largest online community of Filipino photographers - professionals, hobbyist and enthusiast; Mon has spearheaded institutional and executive photo contests, as well as photo safaris and group exhibitions.

A faculty member of De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde School of Design and Arts, and University of Santo Tomas - College of Fine Arts; he held classes on multimedia arts, web development and digital photography.

In 2008 together with friends, he put up the photography-based volunteer group Black Pencil Project with advocacies focused on child primary education in remote and indigenous communities in the Philippines. Today, Black Pencil Project has now become one of the country’s most admired volunteer organizations fostering responsible tourism. As program director, Mon has been regularly invited as a resource speaker on photography symposiums with topics expanding from travel, landscapes, cultural tourism, and responsible travel.

His travel photos depicts Philippines best tourism destinations have graced several travel and in-flight publications here and abroad. His landscape photo of El Nido entitled "Small Lagoon, Small Paradise" won commendation from Sony World Photography Awards 2011 and was exhibited at the World Photography Festival in London last April 2011. Recently, Yahoo-run Getty Images noticed his travel photos on Flickr and signed him up as contributing photographer. Asian Development Bank commissioned Corpuz’ festival photos of Dinagyang and Maskarra for the multinational bank’s 2011 Holiday Season’s Cards.

He presently works as UX Manager for digital-service agency NetBooster Asia.

He harks from the sleepy town of Mayantoc of western Tarlac.
