I recently published the book above called "We Are Pilgrims" that showcases a group of 15 woodblock prints created between November 2008 and July 2010. These prints examine the lives of the first wave of colonists in North America and their impact on the native peoples who already occupied the land. The book includes short prose-poem text explaining the back stories that inform each print. It's available here, on Blurb.

"Annie's quiet diligence, kind caring, and attention to detail are apparent in every image on her stream ~ in photos of lovable Ty, the field near her house through the seasons, her expressive and colorful illustration work, explorations of other artists' work, in trips to the Japan she loves so much, and more!

I love learning about moku hanga ~ the art of Japanese wood block printing ~ with Hanga Girl and am continually fascinated by the depth and simplicity in which she presents each step of her printing process, from visualization and research to the carving and printing of each block.

Annie is one of the sparkling lights I've met here in this multi-faceted flickr world, a fine artist and a beautiful being. I always look forward to seeing the unfolding of a new moku hanga by Hanga Girl.
