A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away I was an art student at Central St. Martin's - quite a few years have passed since then and I am now a widow with an occasionally grown up son - only joking, he is a wonderful son.

I have always been interested in art and creativity in one form or another, from drawing and painting through to fashion and interior design.

I am completely self taught in cake decoration and first made them for my husband and my son - when he was little my son loved a racing car so much that it was never eaten - but apart from a wedding cake back in the 90's I had been in my cake decorating 'dark ages' until about three years ago.

After drooling over some fabulous blogs I was inspired to make a cake and, having done so, sent a photo of it to a friend who showed it round the office and the feedback was rather encouraging. That was how the bug got me.

And then of course there is Flickr. I see so many amazing cakes on here with ideas and techniques that I just itch to try out, the main thing that holds me back is running out of space to store dummy cakes and wanting to stay under nine stone. But inspired by everyone on here I thought I would sign up to give myself an excuse to keep making them.

I am a huge fan of Zoe Clark, Maisie Fantaisie and Peggy Porschen (her parlour is the prettiest place to have coffee and cake in London) - I have well thumbed copies of all their books.

I used to live in Chelsea and Belgravia and now live in Hampshire - I seem to have left the money in London!
