My story of "Everyday Lenses" for my digital EOS cams:

I have started with a
Tamron AF 28 - 300 mm / 3,5 - 6,3 XR DI LD Asph. Makro (sold)
because I did not like the feel of the Kit 18-55 (the performance was ok) but I quickly realized that the Tamron won't do, since it didn't offer a wide angle on a crop DSLR. Then I sold the Tamron and bought a
Canon EF 3.5-4.5/24-85 mm USM (sold)
which was a great lens, but I still wanted some more wide angle, so I sold it again and got a
Sigma 2,8-4,5/17-70 DC Asp. IF (sold)
very sharp, fast and versatile. All I missed was an image stabilizer, so I sold it and bought a
Sigma 3.8-5.6/18-125 DC OS HSM
which now is my "standard" lens on my 40D.
Tokina AT-X Pro 2.6-2.8/28-70
This superfast zoomlens rounds up my set as a flexible portait lens on the 40D and as a standard lens on the 5D.

"LucisPictor is the guy with great photography knowledge and lenses collection.
Before buying any (MF) lens, I often go to see LucisPictor's list first. His input on that lens is invaluable. And most importantly, his list makes me feel less guilty.
Lenses for men is like Luis Vuitton for women, never enough ;)"
