My name is Jon L. Miller, owner of jLorenzo Photography. I specialize in Fine Art Nude, Beauty, Fashion, Flowers and Scenic/Landscapes. Been involved with photography as a professional for over 30+ years from my beginning in Denver, Colorado, Los Angeles, California and now in Perth, Western Australia. When not shooting I'm a Director of an IT Consultant firm based in Perth, Western Australia.
Why I shoot nudes;
I've been asked this question a lot of times and yet the reason sometimes are very vague, this is mine....
As an erotic and artistic nude photographer I do it mainly because I do not have a strong desire to shoot landscapes, or any other type of image, although I do shoot them occasionally to have a change of pace or vision. I've always had a creative side to me and yet I could never express what it was I wanted to create. I have a huge appreciation of art in its many forms from sight to sound. I chose photography since I could not drawn a straight line to save my life. The more I studied the subject the more I got involved, but it was the study of light designs that interest me. In the beginning I would shoot anything as long as there was light on it forming some sort of design. Then one day as my g/f was getting dressed by the window, the light painted her in such a way that I saw how light and the design on her body was so interesting and asked her to stand still while I photographed her and then I asked her to move and before I knew it, my interest in this genre of photography began.
I've always photographed people because they interest me more. They can do strange things in a split second, the look on their face, the shape of the bodies with light on it changes rapidly if in the natural light. I shoot the nude mainly because I can treat the model as my canvas and paint with light, either bright or dark light. I find it interesting to see how the bodies (different shapes) handle and change from second to second. I do mostly studio lighting because I can control the way the light is on the models body. I do like to get outside in very interesting locations to shoot my models.
I also shoot nudes because of my immense love for women which is the main subject. Not in a sexual way but more in an appreciative manner of how they are so beautful, symmetric, soft and yet can be hard and rough. How they can from one moment be an art piece showing form and design and the next an erotic subject projecting/producing an intimate feeling. The beauty of a woman is like a beautiful new rose, when it's young and budding is it is fine in its design, whereas when it matures it has more lines and the designs are more intricate (which is me asking the model to become more complex) in its design/shape and yet it still maintains its beauty.
I consider it a privilege to be able to create an image from scratch using another human at their barest. The models I use are very creative and therefore they are quite involved in the creative process.
My rebel side....
Another reason is I am who I am. I have no interest in following the industry standards of how things "should" be....including, looks, body type, age and art. I walk to my own beat and create art according to my own vision and the talented souls I collaborate with. My work is a reflection of that. I aim to live by my own motto: "If you can't be inspired, then inspire those around you."
