These pictures represent the world as I see it. When I'm gone, they will stick around to let others know what this place was like in my eyes.

In this sense, I'm fascinated with photography as the "freezing of time." Though I cannot physically stop the swirling of atoms or the drifting of photons through the universe, I can record a visual imprint of where they were at any precise moment I choose. That is power, in a sense.

If the photons I record bouncing off the varied molecules in front of me enable another person to better understand the world they live in, whether by imparting knowledge, sharing an appreciation for beauty, or transporting them vicariously to a place they could not go otherwise, I have accomplished something incalculably significant. It would seem we all have this same power.

Concerning my life, I'm originally from the Southeast US. I learned the technical aspects of photography while printing photos in a camera shop. I learned and am still learning the aesthetic aspects of photography through a great deal of practice. I lived in Prague while working as an English teacher and taking photographs on the side, which gave me an opportunity to get to know Europe. I've since returned to the States, and am now a doctor of physical therapy living in California.
