I got more interested in photography as I was preparing to go on an African photo safari to Tanzania and Kenya in the fall of 2007. The digital camera I selected (Panasonic LUMIX DMC-TZ3) has a great lens and a 10X optical zoom, both of which I needed for capturing wildlife photos. Since then I've really enjoyed going on photo shoots, most often in the Chicago area where I live.

In November 2010, I upgraded to a Panasonic LUMIX ZS7, which I am just getting used to. So, starting in December 2010, my photos will be with the new camera (since I gave my old one to a friend).

I often like taking a real thing and abstracting it, especially architectural subjects. I use Picnik a little but try to avoid more than minor adjustments, mainly a crop or a slight change in exposure.

I'm enjoying my Flickr experience, but I find it chews up a lot of time.
