CAPTURE THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE

Interview from www.simplyoutstanding.com:

Name: Gigi Bio
Location: Brooklyn, New York

What got you into Photography?
After many years of capturing the world through the Navy, my Father retired and gave me his camera. Seeing all of his images of life, culture & historical monuments from many countries was a deep inspiration for me. Ever since that day, I have been driven to capture all moments & journeys in life.

Are there any photographers that gave you inspiration to get into the field of photography?
I am inspired from many sources. Photographers - Man Ray, Cindy Sherman, Diane Arbus, Juergen Teller & Bruce Gilden for they capture emotion, mystery & intimacy in their subjects. Painters - Picasso, Frida Kahlo & Hung Liu for they reflect their soul through Art. Architects - Antonio Gaudi, Frank Lloyd Wright, Zaha Hadid & Frank Gehry for they have a sense of wonder & structure. Lastly, I take great inspiration from the world, the streets and life.

What is your favorite style of Photography?
I appreciate photography that speaks loud silence, radiates color, creates movement and evokes emotion. My style is very organic for I follow my instincts, visually it can be chaotic like a swirling hurricane - to free flowing like waves breaking along the shore. I create juxtapositions of multiple images & mass angles to form organic structures in nature. I encourage the viewer to see beauty in the mundane & order through the chaos.

Most people reach a point where they can go anywhere creatively; do you feel that you have reached that point?
Creativity is eternal. I am never done. I always aim to transcend my work to new levels & hope to inspire others along the way. Inspiration fuels creativity.

There is a constant battle between Canon and Nikon and which is the better brand. Do you have a preference to which camera you use?
I own an Olympus - both Manual & Digital SLR Cameras. I believe the "eye" is more important than any brand in the market.
