I am a Canadian photographer and lawyer based primarily in Vancouver. I have a graduate degree in law from the University of Oxford and have published academic articles in areas such as privacy, copyright, Internet defamation and freedom of expression. My street photography reflects many of the same themes that are explored in my academic work. For example, I am particularly interested in the boundaries between public and private life and the right of each person to control his or her image. These issues come up with street photography all the time.

On a more basic psychological level I think that I have become hooked on street photography because it gives meaning and vibrancy to all those "in between" times, like when I walk to work or grab my lunch. It has revealed that these otherwise mundane moments are in fact pregnant with the opportunity to make extraordinary discoveries if you are just willing to look out for them with the right kind of eyes (and always have your camera handy!).

I am presently trying to shift away from focusing on stand alone street shots, to working on a number of longer term projects. For example, I have recently spent an embarrassing amount of time on a project that explores Vancouver and Toronto's urban back alleys.
