When People ask me who my favorite photographers are and I say Erica Segovia and they're like WHO IS THAT. And I say just the best photographer ever look her up. Yeah. One day they will just know :)

Her photos are so beautiful and subtle, and some quite funny.
She really brings herself to all her photos, and has already developed a brilliant style that I, along with a lot of people I'm sure, am really jealous of. She's really going to go somewhere some day I know it.
Even if she's trying to depress you with her photos she'll make it up to you by making you laugh so hard you pee your pants.

like, literally.

everytime I make a comment I think twice, and I look left and right to see if anybody is watching me worshipping Erica's greatness by staring at the screen in a semi trance and simultaneously drooling. I don't know her personally, but she fascinates me somehow.

there is just something so ethereally different about her photos, the way they transcend time and space and make you forget about the 21st century. Instead they evoke feelings, and memories long forgotten. The moments (either planned or candid, I haven't a clue) she gets on camera are always the ones that make you catch your breath, the tones make your head spin in wonder.

I have a special fondness for the photos she has taken of young women suspended on trees/makeshift bridges. However one such dedication of "for Chelsea cause she happy with life" made me burst with laughter at the same time. This girl has a special way with words xD The particular way she puts somberness and funny together is something I haven't encountered. Sometimes her captions and humour are absolutely cryptic to me but maybe that's because I'm not an american teenager =/

she also has a very unique beauty. her selfportraits are always so classic and full of depth.

erica's photostream is a joy. definitely a stand out on flickr.

"Erica demanded that her taco include the tears of a unicorn even though I informed here that our restaurant didn't have access to mythical creatures, and we stood by our time-tested recipes. She was holding up the line and was shining a large LED flashlight inside like a light saber demanding the tears of a unicorn. As the manager, I pulled her aside and told her that mahi-mahi was as exotic as we got for our tacos. She was not pleased. She threatened to slay our line cooks with her flashlight laser sword unless we met her demands. It took 6 hours, but we eventually came to a mutual decision to make her a mahi-mahi taco and I'd sprinkle in some fairy dust I collected from a trip to the Ozarks. As she ate (and I watched in bewilderment) we talked about other things, including her rising interest in photography. What I admired about her was her ability to think outside the box, and her steadfast determination to get what she wanted. And after seeing her photos I could see this creative side of her was blossoming.

I never saw her again, and that was 37 years ago. I was happy to find her here again, with beautiful pictures and an open heart. If you ever have the chance to meet her, I encourage it. Just watch out for her flashlight. My neck will never be the same again."

Her photographs are abstractly produced, with simple and mild colours that is striking and bursting with emotion. Unlike most photographers, her clean slate of photographs is powerful enough to evoke feelings in you from gratification to depression. A skill that is difficult to acquire but gorgeous if mastered.

Erica is the craziest and most lovable person you will meet on Flickr. The comments she give are absolutely blunt to the extent that you feel like she's speaking to you in a conversation.
